Probiotic products are made up of a well thought out mixture of surface active agents, which are safe and
can easily be broken down, in combination with biological components.
These surface active agents ensure a quick cleaning result – exactly what you would expect from top quality products.
The biological components ensure there is an extra line of attack for a longer period. These components make enzymes that have proven to be effective against proteins, carbohydrates, fats and, last but not least, undesirable odors. The addition of these components means that the percentage of surface active agents can be limited and this is beneficial to the environment.
Probiotic products are therefore categorized under microbiological cleaning agents.

MICROBIOLOGICAL CLEANING AGENTS

Micro-organisms which exist in their environment as a result of breaking down substances within that environment can be found throughout the natural world. This decomposition takes place as a result of enzymes which produce micro-organisms. The enzymes are continuously created, as required, so if there is more dirt, the micro-organisms make more enzymes.
There is continual decomposition of unpleasant substances because of the fact that the micro-organisms continuously duplicate themselves. This provides a guarantee of long-term effectiveness. The micro-organisms which initiate the ultimate production of enzymes find their food-source in the biofilm.

Microbiological cleaning agents can be used just about everywhere. Probiotics, micro-organisms and/or enzymes can be found in all-purpose cleaners, floor cleaners, hand-washing agents, washing-up liquid, drain unblockers and various odor removal agents. BIOFILM


It is a misunderstanding to think that a surface which looks clean means that no soiling is present. Nothing could be further from the truth. Every surface is covered with a thin layer made up of all sorts of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and micro-organisms. This layer is called the biofilm and is not usually visible to the naked eye. A biofilm is particularly tough and is difficult or impossible to remove with ordinary cleaning agents.

The probiotic spores find plenty of food in the biofilm. The moisture and oxygen levels are also ideal. The spores easily convert into micro-organisms which then produce enzymes. There is continual decomposition of unpleasant substances as a result of the fact that the micro-organisms are continuously multiplying. This provides a guarantee of long-term effectiveness. In practice, the micro-organisms will die after a certain amount of time as their source of food has been cut up into pieces by the enzymes and have been used as an energy source by the micro-organisms. The microbiological cleaning agent must, therefore, be reapplied. This is not a problem as the cleaning procedure must be repeated too.

SPORES, MICRO-ORGANISMS AND ENZYMS

Just to be clear, a distinction must be made between cleaning agents with micro-organisms and agents with enzymes. Cleaning agents with micro-organisms do not contain enzymes! These are only manufactured by the organism if a food source becomes available. An advantage of this is that the appropriate enzymes are always made in the quantity required. Microbiological leaning agents do not contain the actual micro-organisms but their spores. In other words; the stable form into which the organism reverts under unfavorable living conditions. These spores must first germinate before the organism becomes visibly active in large numbers. It takes several hours before germination is complete and takes some time before bacterial enzyme activity reaches the desired level. The enzymes are the bodies that actually do the work. Enzymes are less suitable to being kept in a solution. This is also the case for the micro-organisms which produce the enzymes.

FROM SPORE TO MICRO-ORGANISM

The following ingredients must be available in order for a spore to germinate into a micro-organism:

1. Food
This is the dirt.

2. Oxygen
Plenty of this is available once the microbiological cleaning agent has been applied with a cloth, by spraying or any other method.

3. Moisture
Ambient humidity is sufficient to keep the micro-organisms alive.

4. Temperature
Any temperature above 10°C is sufficient, a higher temperature will significantly accelerate the process but this should not rise above 40°C.

5. pH.value
Strong pH values will kill the micro-organisms. Micro-organisms work best between pH 6 and 8.

FROM MICRO-ORGANISM TO ENZYME

Micro-organisms begin to create enzymes if sufficient food is available. Once this is the case, the process of creation gets underway extremely quickly and the enzymes start their work.
Enzymes are a product with a living bacteria cell. Most enzymes accelerate the decomposition process (=clean!) very quickly. A speed of 1 to 10,000 conversions per second per enzyme molecule is normal.
The speed of the enzymatic reaction increases as the quantity of active enzyme increases. Enzymes only have limited lifetimes and must be replaced promptly!

SUPPRESSION

The probiotic spores germinate into safe probiotic micro-organisms. The application of sufficiently large numbers leads to two, desirable effects:

1. sufficient micro-organisms form sufficient enzymes for an appropriate and rapid effect;
2. the micro-organisms quickly devour the food for the micro-organisms that are already present. As a result, they die and do not produce any more nasty odors.

FROM ENZYME TO CLEANING

Each enzyme works on a specific substance category. For this reason, probiotic products contain a special mix of various spores so that they can take on as many types of dirt as possible. Examples of desirable enzymes are:

Protease which break down proteins
Amylase which break down starch and other carbohydrates
Lipase which break down fats
Cellulose          which break down cellulose
Urase which break down urine


The micro-organisms which form useful enzymes are present throughout the natural world and are, therefore,
not detrimental to the environment. Enzymes are also present in the human body and, even more
importantly, food cannot be digested without them.

ACTIVITY OF WASHING LIQUID = SPORES PER MILLILITER

In the past, cleaning agents with spores that have been introduced to the market have been ineffective.
Two reasons can be cited for this:
1. ineffective mix of spores with surface active elements;
2. simply too few spores to make a difference.

The probiotic concept works quickly, safely and thoroughly as a result of having a unique mix of modern and safe surface active elements, combined with a particularly high concentration of spores per millimeter. The concentration is determined by the number of spores expressed in KVE/ml (colony transformed units per millimeter).

UNIQUE PROPERTY: REMOVES UNPLEASANT ODORS

Areas used as ′outside toilets′ really smell bad. This unpleasant odor is caused by decomposition products produced by undesirable micro-organisms. These organisms use substances in urine as food. As the urine penetrates deep into the brickwork, the smelly organisms are surrounded by a protective stone layer and removing them with regular cleaning agents is always doomed to failure. The use of a perfumed washing liquid often just increases the problem.

The probiotic approach from NuvoClean gets right to the source. Probiotic tensides ensure thorough cleaning and the spores penetrate deep into the stonework. The fresh micro-organisms and enzymes rapidly cut off the food supply of the organisms creating the odor and they will then die. The probiotic micro-organisms crowd-out the smelly organisms as a result.

In contrast to the smelly organisms, the probiotic organisms do not produce any odor, only water and odor-free carbon dioxide. The permeating urine smell will be gone within a few days. It goes without saying that the treatment must be regularly repeated in order to completely overcome the smell organisms.
